Andrew Lemer, an engineer-economist and planner, has devoted more than three decades to planning and analysis of urban and regional development, surface transportation systems, airports, and civil infrastructure asset management. His experience includes planning of large urban developments (Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria; Batam Center in Indonesia), economic and financial feasibility studies, and creation of development policies and management guides, advising senior private- and public-sector officials. His interests focus particularly on the meaning of "good performance" with regard to our own habitat, our efforts to provide ourselves with a sustainably high quality of life, and how meaning and effort evolve with experience and knowledge. He currently works primarily in strategic management of transportation and economic development research .
