Bio: I am in my final year at the University of Washington pursuing a Master of Urban Planning and a Master of Science in Real Estate concurrently. Prior to focusing my efforts on obtaining my dual master degrees, I worked in the real estate industry for nearly 10 years as a broker and as an investor. I also have nearly 5 years of risk management experience from Safeco Insurance and Expeditors International of Washington. Founded in 2003, I am the Principal of the Kalthoff LLC, where I built a portfolio of rental properties throughout Seattle. I also maintain my broker’s license at Lake and Company Real Estate. While at the University of Washington, the main focus of my research has been focused on both historic preservation and commercial real estate development. My ongoing thesis work is exploring commercial development possibilities in the historic core of Seattle’s International District. Upon completion of graduate school, I intend to work in real estate development and rehabilitation in Seattle. In addition, I have continued my prior academic interest in Chinese political economy and history. I am also an active runner, with seven marathons completed in 5 years, and place in the top 20% of all runners.
